OBJECTIVES : Anthelmintics are the basis of pathogenetic pharmacotherapy of helminthiases. The research aims to assess the volume and structure of consumption of anthelmintics (group Р02) in Ukraine in 2018-2020 and compare their consumption in Ukraine with other countries (Norway, Lithuania, Estonia).

METHODS : Assessment of anthelmintics consumption was carried out by ATC/DDD-methodology. The international index of DDDs / 1000 inhabitants/day was calculated for carrying out research. The number of drugs packaging, which was sold for a year in Ukraine, was taken from the information system "Pharmexplorer" of Company «Morion». A DDD of anthelmintics is taken from the WHO website (http://www.whocc.no/atc_ddd_index/). The drug consumption level in Norway, Lithuania, and Estonia was estimated using statistical data of these countries.

RESULTS : Consumption volumes of anthelmintics in Ukraine were as follows: 2018 – 0.69; 2019 – 0.70; 2020  0.61. According to the consumption volumes of anthelmintics in 2018-2020 countries studied can be positioned the following order: Ukraine  Lithuania  Estonia  Norway. The anthelmintics were consumed in Ukraine on average 1.4 times more than in Lithuania, three times more than in Estonia, and four times more than in Norway. During 2018-2020, the volumes of anthelmintics consumption decreased in Ukraine and Estonia, increased - in Norway and Lithuania. Drugs of mebendazole, albendazole, piperazine, pyrantel, levamisole and praziquantel were presented in Ukraine, mebendazole, albendazole, ivermectin and praziquantel - in Estonia, mebendazole, pyrantel and levamisole – in Lithuania, mebendazole and ivermectin - in Norway. Albendazole was the leader by consuming anthelmintics in Ukraine, mebendazole  in Norway, Lithuania, and Estonia.

CONCLUSIONS : Approximately from 0.06 to 0.07 % of the Ukrainian population every day took 1 DDD of one of anthelmintics in 2018-2020. Ukraine ranked first place in terms of consumption of anthelmintics in this period among the countries studied.
