OBJECTIVES : The QoL assessment of children with disabilities could be used to make a more comprehensive state of their lives according to the International Classification of Function, Disability and Health (ICF). With the HUI questionnaire it is possible to determine not only utilities indexes, but also levels of functioning disruption. That will allow to analyse the peculiarities of violations in various aspects, to develop and assess the effectiveness of rehabilitation programs. The aim of this research work is to determine the levels of malfunctioning in various diseases among children with disabilities.

METHODS : The Russian-language version of the Health Utilities Index (HUI) questionnaire served as a tool for the research. The study involved 203 patients aged 5-17 (85 (41.9%) children, 118 (58.1%) parents) with gastrointestinal diseases, dermatological, nephrological, rheumatologic and cardiologic diseases, as well as 223 children without chronic diseases. Statistical analysis was carried out using the IBM SPSS Statistics 26 program.

RESULTS : functioning in groups on «Vision», «Hearing» and «Speech» attributes did not differ from each other and from healthy children (P> 0.05). On «Cognition» attribute patients with gastroenterological and dermatological pathology had severe disorders (р=0.026). Existence of emotional disorders («Emotion») was observed approximately to the same extent in all groups of patients (р<0.05). Only patients with cardiologic diseases did not differ in «Pain» attribute from healthy, the most expressed disorders are noted at rheumatologic patients (р<0.0001). Extent of functioning disorder on «Ambulation» and «Dexterity» attributes was also significantly higher among rheumatologic patients (р<0.0001).

CONCLUSIONS : functioning disorders among disabled children in comparison with healthy children and also features of levels depending on the disease which caused disability are revealed. These data need to be used in clinical practice and also in the course of rehabilitation.
