OBJECTIVES : The objective of this study is to determine the cost-effectiveness of dolutegravir, abacavir, and lamivudinein the treatment of HIV infections

METHODS : The systematic literature review in this study ensured the inclusion of high-qualitypharmacoeconomic studies that reported the cost-effectiveness of Triumeq in the treatment of HIV infections; therefore, the study design allowed for the synthesisof valid research data that can be used for policymaking and evidence-based medicine.

RESULTS : The search results of the potentially relevant studies The literature search yielded 52 potentially relevant studies after 1 duplicate was removed (52 studies obtained through a comprehensive search in theCINAHL, PubMed, Cochrane Library, MEDLINE, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar database, and 1 study obtained through a manual search in reference lists). We excluded 20 studies at the screening stage; they were not published in English and/or published before 2009.All the five include studies determined the cost-effectiveness of compared with other multidrug regimens in treating HIV patients. The main outcomes reported by these studies were the effectiveness of the antiretroviral drugs and the costs of each drug. Some studies (9) reported the saving realised after switching from brand dolutegravir, abacavir, and lamivudineto generic abacavir/lamivudine and dolutrgravir .The results of the five studies can be used to meet the objective of this systematic literature review.

CONCLUSIONS : Through a systematic literature review, we identified pharmacoeconomic literature reporting that dolutegravir, abacavir, and lamivudine is the most cost-effective multidrug regimen against HIV compared with other multidrug regimens. However, we also found two studies suggesting that dolutegravir, abacavir, and lamivudineis associated with higher medication costs
