OBJECTIVES: For the Republic of Kazakhstan (RK), part of the development of the nursing system is part of the practical implementation of the Institute of Nurses with various positions depending on the level of education. To study the awareness of the reform of nursing for the formation of a new positive image of the nursing profession conducted a population survey

METHODS: We conducted a cross-sectional survey, common to all regions of Kazakhstan with the participation of 5958respondents

RESULTS: Analysis of the survey population has revealed the following facts: about the reforms carried out in RK, on the reorganization of nursing services are aware 65.4% respondents; 61.4% respondents have heard about the fact that in RK in 2014 in 6 pilot medical colleges are trained nurses applied bachelors (practice-nurse); 61.3% of respondents say that nursing in RK needs to be reformed; 54.1% of respondents agree that the activities of nursing professionals should be independent. According to 51.6% (95%CI:37.5;65.7) of respondents, the status of a nurse should be a doctor’s assistant and 33.7% (95%CI:21.5;45.9) - equal partner of a doctor. More than half of respondents have a positive attitude towards delegating a number of powers from a doctor, in particular: independent visits to patients with chronic diseases at home 60% (95%CI:51;69.4)respondents; independent primary admission of patients seeking medical care 48.9% (95%CI:38.5;59.3); independent daily bypass of inpatients 60.8% (95%CI:50.4;71.2); conduct training of patients with chronic diseases of the skills of a healthy lifestyle, dieting 73% (95%CI:61.8;84.2)

CONCLUSIONS: In general, the population is aware of the reforms carried out on the reorganization of the nursing, which indicates their effectiveness. Nevertheless, among the population, there is not enough explanatory work on reforms and on the new status of a nurse, which should lead to the formation of a positive image of the new profession of a nurse
