PURPOSE

: The objective of this workshop is to discuss how public healthcare insurance, private insurance, and manufacturers can work together to provide multi-level insurance plans and establish early access for innovative drugs in China. Perspectives from a public insurance expert, private insurer and manufacturer will be shared.

DESCRIPTION

: With the current annual National Reimbursement Drug List (NRDL) negotiations, public coverage of healthcare in China has improved substantially. While the public coverage aims for broader and essential access, private insurers are keen to provide supplementary coverage. This approach seeks to increase the affordability for innovative therapies in collaboration with manufacturers. Private insurers are piloting various programs which include reimbursing additional specialty drugs that are currently not on the NRDL and leveraging new technology platforms, such as Wechat and Alipay, to achieve better customer reach, provide healthcare pathway guidance, and offer drug utilization recommendations and financial support.

During the workshop, panelists and the participants will discuss how these multi-level insurance plans and manufacturer efforts will expand access to address public demand, innovation, and payer / consumer value drivers.
