Learn how to responsibly implement, evaluate, and scale Generative AI solutions across HEOR workflows.
This intermediate-level course explores how Generative AI (GenAI) is transforming Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR), from literature reviews and evidence synthesis to economic modeling and HTA submissions. Moving beyond experimentation, the course provides a practical framework for implementing, evaluating, and governing GenAI tools in regulated and evidence-driven environments. Participants will learn how GenAI projects transition from pilot initiatives to production deployment, how external knowledge can be integrated to improve accuracy and transparency, and how AI outputs can be assessed for reliability, reproducibility, and regulatory alignment.
Technical Topics Include:
• Frameworks for moving GenAI from prototype to operational practice
• Workflow orchestration, modularization, scaling, and change management considerations
• Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) for integrating external evidence and knowledge bases
• Data chunking, embeddings, and prompt augmentation for domain-specific applications
• Evaluation and validation of GenAI outputs using regulatory-aligned frameworks
• Introduction to Agentic AI for automating multi-step HEOR processes
This Course Includes Tools and Concepts That Can Be Immediately Applied, Including:
• Practical implementation frameworks for GenAI in HEOR
• Hands-on demonstrations of RAG pipelines and agentic workflows
• Approaches for responsible AI governance, ethics, and regulatory alignment
• Real-world HEOR use cases across evidence synthesis, modeling, and HTA
Participants will gain actionable knowledge to bridge the gap between exploratory AI use and operational excellence, enhancing productivity while maintaining scientific rigor, transparency, and compliance.
PREREQUISITES: Completion of the “Applied Generative AI for HEOR: Introduction” ISPOR course or familiarity with concepts such as prompt engineering, APIs, and LLM workflows. A basic understanding of Python or other similar scripting languages is recommended to get the most benefit from the guided practical sessions.
