ISPOR Publishes Its Second Annual Report on Influential Topics in the Field

Lawrenceville, NJ, USA—January 8, 2019—ISPOR—the professional society for health economics and outcomes research (HEOR), announced today the release of its 2019 Top 10 HEOR Trends report. For the second year, based on a survey of its members, the Society has identified the top 10 HEOR trends that will shape the field in the near future. 2019 is shaping up to be another significant year for the HEOR field, as payers and consumers balance the introduction of new, innovative health technologies, increasing healthcare costs, and the impact of healthcare decisions. The topical issue of drug spending and pricing topped the list of HEOR trends with this year’s number 1 expanding beyond the pricing of pharmaceuticals to encompass drug spending and its impact on the healthcare system. Universal health coverage came in second with a special focus on equity of healthcare access. Real-world evidence rounded out the top 3 trends centering on the potential for converting real-world data into real-world evidence to inform healthcare decision making.
