BACKGROUND: In modern age the involvement of pharmacists is not limited to dispensation of medications.Now it's about broad sector of fields like research to improve health care facilities. Unfortunately unacknowledged especially in developing country like in Pakistan.

OBJECTIVES: The aim of the study was to assess the knowledge of health care professionals of different disciplines regarding the role of pharmacists from research to healthcare.

METHODS: This was a cross-sectional survey study. Survey was conducted on World Pharmacists Day 25th September 2017 at Aga khan University Hospital, Karachi to assess the awareness about the the role of pharmacist from research to healthcare. Questionnaire based survey was designed to cover different important aspects of the pharmacist and his role. Total 150 survey forms were filled up by different health care professionals.

RESULTS: Based on the 150 surveys.100% Health care providers accepted that pharmacists are an integral part of the health care system and that the world pharmacist’s day events should be conducted to increase the awareness.92.5% accepted that pharmacists can help in detecting and preventing prescription errors. 95% believed that pharmacist and other healthcare professional’s collaboration improves the patient outcome. 95% agreed that the involvement of pharmacists in research can enhance patient safety.

CONCLUSIONS: In this fast-paced world, pharmacists are important part from research to health care.However, the need of the moment is to recognize the importance of this profession specially in developing countries like in Pakistan so they can more actively participate in the field of research and serve the health care society in a better way.
