OBJECTIVES: The aim of our study was to reveal the pros and cons in the background of parental decision making about recommended vaccinations.

METHODS: We carried out our quantitative cross-sectional study in Vas County, Hungary in 2017. With non-randomized expert sampling, the self-edited questionnaire was completed by 138 parents having children between the ages of 2 and 4. We used mean, prevalence and Chitest (p<0.05) to statistical analysis.

RESULTS: CONCLUSIONS: To sum up, we can say that, although parents consider recommended vaccinations important for their children, it was not easy for them to make the decision about their acceptance. The most important task of both health visitors and paediatricians is to give recommendations for vaccinations for families with children and up-to-date evidence-based information about them.
