OBJECTIVES: The objectives of this study is to evaluate (HRQoL) of MM patients in “Alexandrovska” university hospital, Sofia, Bulgaria.

METHODS: HRQoL was evaluated with SF-36 questionnaire. Statistical analysis of data was also performed.

RESULTS: Study includes 31 patients with MM (m=16, f=15) age 50-85 (n=4 51-60, n=12 61-70, n=14 71-80, n=1 over 81); type: BJ kappa n=3, BJ lambda n=2, IgA lambda n=4, IgG kappa n=15, IgG lambda n=7; stage - IIA n=3, IIB n=2, IIIA n=16, IIIB n=10; 12 patients with CKF (chronic kidney failure), treated with the following treatment protocols: CD (cyclophosphamide, dexamethasone) n=3; PAD (bortezomib, epirubicin) n=4; RVD (lenalidomide, bortezomib, dexamethasone) n=2; VelCD (bortezomib, cyclophosphamide, dexamethasone) n=19; VTD (bortezomib, thalidomide, dexamethasone) n=3.

The average HRQoL detected before treatment was 38,43 out of 100, the highest value 47,58 for parameter “social functioning” and the lowest 13,71 for parameter “role limitations”. Sugnificant improvement was obtained with all therapeutic protocols: CD: 57,90 (28,96); PAD: 71,95 (42,47); RVD: 67,36 (54,24); VelCD: 56,68 (38,02); VTD: 43,65 (34,52).

CONCLUSIONS: MM is a plasma cell disorder, which successful treatment still remains a challenge. A variety of new implemented drugs, improve not only the patient outcomes but also significantly improve their (HRQoL).
