FINANCING EXPENSIVE ANTICANCER DRUGS IN HOSPITALS- TOWARDS TRANSPARENCY TO IMPROVE PATIENT ACCESS

Author(s)

OBJECTIVES

:
Innovative cancer therapies are funded in French hospitals via the “liste-en-sus”, meaning “in addition” to the Diagnosis-Related Group-Based (DRG) financing system. The Health Ministry monthly publishes an updated list, where anticancer drugs are predominantly expensive. Given this budgetary impact and the evolution of the legal framework of the list, this study assesses the criteria for inclusion/exclusion of anticancer drugs from the liste-en-sus

METHODS

:
Anticancer drugs were extracted by ATC code from the publicly available liste-en-sus
