DESIGNING EFFICIENT DIABETIC RETINOPATHY SCREENING PROGRAM AND RISK MANAGEMENT IN ALEXANDRIA OPTHLMOLOGY HOSPITAL

OBJECTIVES

:
Screen all the diabetic patients attending the diabetes unit to diagnose the cases at early stage of the disease and to save the cost of avoidable blindness by implementing retinopathy efficient screening program.

METHODS

:
Cross-sectional observational study on 150 diabetic patients with no previous retinopathy diagnosis, who were attended to diabetes outpatient unit in Alexandria ophthalmology hospital . Data analyzed using SPSS version 21(logistic regression), from January to September 2017.

RESULTS

: CONCLUSIONS

:
Insulin treatment and onset of diabetes should be taken into account while designing efficient diabetic retinopathy screening program
