Background: “RHEUMAZIN” is a nonprofit organization, from a collaboration of 6 patients associations of Rheumatic Diseases (approximately 2.500 members).

OBJECTIVES

: The survey was conducted among patients of “RHEUMAZIN”, aiming to assess the degree of their adherence to treatment with MTX and to identify the side effects from patients’ perspective

METHODS

: Sample: 273 patients with rheumatic diseases, over 18 years old, all treated with MTX, either currently or in the past. The research was conducted with a structured questionnaire, by telephone to 80% of the sample and face-to-face to the rest

RESULTS

: This survey revealed that 6 out of 10 patients treated with MTX will experience side effects, which is also the most frequent reason for interruption.
