SYSTEMATIC REVIEW OF PROSTATE CANCER SCREENING GUIDELINE IN VARIOUS COUNTRY

OBJECTIVES: Prostate cancer is one of the most burden disease in menAs the evidence and recommendation of screening is still conflicting among various countriesWe conduct the systematic review to explore the major prostate cancer screening guideline around the world to provide the information to assist decision makers in technology assessment METHODS: Systematic review was conducted to explore up-to-date prostate cancer screening guideline around the world. We used PubMed, google and central as the primary source of database. Searching keyword is including “prostate cancer screening guideline”. Key information including name of guideline, year of publishing, recommendation strategy, cut-point age and cut-point prostate specific antigen level (PSA) were extracted into standardized data extraction form. We used two researchers to involve in searching, extracting and quality assessment process and inconsistency were solved during the consensus. RESULTS: From the result of systematic review, most prostate cancer screening guideline is come from North America region. The major recommendation screening strategy is shared-decision screening with informed risk and benefit to the participants. Age to start screening is set at 50 years or 55 years and end at 69 years. Prostate specific antigen (PSA) Cut-point is set at 4 ng/ml. Many guidelines recommend starting screening at 45 years in high risk population including African-American race and men who have family history of prostate cancer. CONCLUSIONS: Different guidelines from various country suggest the use of prostate cancer screening as shared decision strategy. Cut-point age and PSA level are inconsistent among guidelines. Therefore, the screening strategy should be defined as local context and individualized based on each country’s specific evidence.
