OBJECTIVES: In Mongolia prevalence of H.pylori is 56-82% among population. Medicines for eradication of H.pylori although expensive but they are able to prevent the contraction of H.pylori again. The aim of the study is to estimate direct costs of H.pylori gastritis diagnostics and treatment outcomes. METHODS: Data on all costs related to diagnostics and treatment of 161 patients with H.pylori gastritis were collected. Patients were getting diagnostic tests and treatment in state and private clinics. Two groups of patients were treated by standard triple PPI and sequential regimens for 10 days.  RESULTS: H.pylory was eradicated in 90% of patients of both groups of patients. Costs for diagnostics and treatment on standard triple therapy were 30USD for patients with health insurance and 43USD for patients without health insurance in state clinics. But for patients getting diagnostics and treatment in private clinics the cost was 85USD.  CONCLUSIONS: Diagnostics and treatment cost of standard triple regimen for H.pylori were cheaper compared to sequential regimen cost with the same percent of eradication. Costs for diagnostics and treatment in state hospitals were cheaper than in private hospitals.
