DESCRIPTION: Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) therapies have been used thousands of years in Asia, and have made great contributions to human health. There has been a consistently growing trend in their use globally. However, they are lack of or have only limited scientific evidence on clinical efficacy, safety, effectiveness, and cost-effectiveness to support their use, and they are not well-established in terms of its short- and long-term benefits and risks. How can we address this knowledge gap and overcome barriers in incorporating CAM into mainstream health care in order to provide real value in healthcare and meet the challenge of cost, access, and quality? This forum aims to promote scientific investigation of CAM, and evidence-based and value-based CAM practice in Asia. The challenges, successes, and lessons learned will be shared among nations.
