OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this study was to systematically review the health related quality of life(HRQoL) based on EQ-5D-3L instrument in patients with different kinds of diseases in China. METHODS: A systematic review of literatures was conducted via PubMed, The Cochrane LibraryEmbase, VIP, WanFang Data and CNKI databases from January 1990 to September 2015, to identify studies related to HRQoL captured by EQ-5D-3L instrument of Chinese patients. A descriptive analysis was conducted to analyze health utility by diseases and proportion of patients who have problems in five dimensions of EQ-5D, as well as comparing health utility in patients with different diseases. RESULTS: A total of 26 studies were identified in the review, which involved 15 kinds of diseases. In this review, the health utility of diabetes mellitus ranged from 0.79 to 0.94, liver disease infected by HBV 0 to 0.80, hypertension 0.78 to 0.93, coronary heart disease 0.75 to 0.90 and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease CONCLUSIONS: EQ-5D-3L is wildly used in HRQoL studies for different diseases in China. Many factors may have influence on the measurement results of health utility, including severity of diseases, complication and EQ-5D value sets.
