Presentation Documents
Health technology assessment (HTA) is a population-based approach for rationalizing health care spending and playing a valuable role in health care priority-setting and service delivery. With patient-centered outcomes taking center stage, the patient's role as a key stakeholder in health care today has become more important than ever before. As greater participation of patients being advocated, patients in Europe become empowered and actively involved in HTA and decision-making process, although the type and level of patient involvement is diverse in different countries. However, patient involvement in HTA in Asia is still very much in its infancy even though some efforts have been made in recent years. In this session, we will bring together experts to exam the role of patients in HTA and its impact on HTA. Current status of patient involvement and trends, and enablers and challenges for patient involvement in HTA across Asia-Pacific will be also discussed.
