OBJECTIVES:  To systematically review and sum up data on EQ-5D use in patients with multiple myeloma (ICD-10: C90.0). This research is a part of a review on the EQ-5D use in hematologic malignancies. METHODS:  We performed a systematic search in MEDLINE (PubMed), EMBASE, Cochrane Library, EuroQol website, CEA Registry, LILACS (VHL), ProQuest, CRD and Web of Science, up to February 2016. Additional references were obtained from reviewed articles. No study design restrictions were implemented. The search strategy combined MESH, EMTREE and free-text terms respecting multiple myeloma and the EQ-5D instruments (EQ-5D-3L, EQ-5D-5L or EQ-5D-Y). Data from studies meeting the inclusion criteria were extracted using a pre-determined extraction form. RESULTS:  In total, 15 full text papers were included in the review, including 12 focused on multiple myeloma and 3 related to mixed hematologic populations. There were no study using EQ-5D-5L nor EQ-5D-Y. In total, 133 health state utilities were identified, ranging from 0.171 for newly diagnosed patients with performance of 50-60 points on Karnofsky scale, to 0.923 for patients with asymptomatic multiple myeloma. The EQ descriptive system results were presented in three papers and EQ-VAS values in four papers (ranging from 18.66 to 77.5). CONCLUSIONS:  Current study provides systematic review of health state utility values obtained with EQ-5D-3L in patients with multiple myeloma. The results should ease parameterizing of health economic models.
