OBJECTIVES: to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of amertopia screening programs for children from payers and patients perspective in Russian Federation METHODS: we created decision tree model according to real world data received from retrospective analysis of medical documentation and evaluate long terms clinical outcomes and economical effectiveness of 3 screening scenarios: refractive errors were diagnosed before 1 year (group I), from 1 till 2 years 11 months (group II) and from 3 till 5 years (group III). The scheme of diagnostic program includes ophthalmocopy under mydriasys, skiascopy, evaluation of strabismus's angle, spectaculars selection. The base of research was Children's Ophthalmology Center, South Administrative District, Moscow, Russia. We evaluated the direct medical costs (laboratory and instrumental diagnostics procedures, treatment procedures, including surgery, medicines and spectacular correction). Analysis was performed with methods of descriptive statistic, parametric and non-parametric criteria. Burden of disease and budget impact analysis (BIA) were made.
