OBJECTIVES: Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG), in the context of Evidence Based Medicine (EBM) improve consistency of care, minimise unjustified variations, irrational approaches, thus reducing waste. This study aims to investigate attitudes, adherence and barriers among publicly employed General Practitioners (GP) in Cyprus, towards recently implemented CPG, and notion of EBM. METHODS:  A standardized, validated questionnaire, with 58 items and 7 dimensions regarding access, use, attitudes and skills, was distributed to all publicly employed GPs from March to May 2016. The questionnaire was assesed for internal consistency using Cronbach’s alpha. Demographic characteristics were tested for association with categorical responses using Chi-squared test. Mean scores for the dimensions: attitute towards evidence based medicine; skills; and attitutes towards clinical quidelines were compared with regards to sociodemographic characteristics using analysis of variance.
