OBJECTIVES

The views of general population satisfaction with health system is the measurement to provide useful insight into public opinion on healthcare system performance. Thus, general population satisfaction with healthcare system is assuring the stability of a health system when measuring and assessing healthcare system as well as quality of care. Purpose of the study is to examine satisfaction of the population with the health system and its components.

METHODS

A nationally representative survey conducted in Turkey since 2008 will be used for this purpose. The components of health system to be considered are health center, public hospitals, private health institutions, family doctors or general practitioners (GPs), specialists, dentists, health professionals, and home care services.

RESULTS

Linear regression model was used with overall satisfaction as a dependent variable. Using stepwise method on training data, a model is created in 17 iterations. The final model has r-square of 0.063 and adjusted r-square of 0.062, this means the best model that can be created, will be able to explain only 6.2% of the variability of the dependent variable.

CONCLUSIONS

:
The result shows that there is a positive coefficient between the age and satisfaction at 5% level of significance, which means as the person age through the years, he/she becomes more satisfied with overall health care services (0.029). As the level of overall happiness increases, overall satisfaction also increases (0.025). There is a negative coefficient for overall sadness, which means if a person is sad most of the time, he/she will be less satisfied (-0.03).
