OBJECTIVES

:
Assess quality of life and treatment satisfaction of diabetic patients with Continuous Subcutaneous Insulin Infusion + real time - Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CSII + rt-CGM).

METHODS

:
Observational, analytical, cross-sectional study performed in patients with diabetes treated with CSII + rt-CGM in a specialized center in Medellin, Colombia. The 19-item Audit of Diabetes-Dependent Quality of Life Questionnaire (ADDQoL-19) and Diabetes Treatment Satisfaction Questionnaire (DTSQs) were used.

RESULTS

:
161 patients were included with a mean age of 37.1 ± 13.2 years, 89.4% had type 1 diabetes. ADDQoL-19: The average weighted impact (AWI) score of diabetes on quality of life was -2.47 ± 1.94. The domains which were affected the most were: dietary freedom, working life and feelings about the future. DTSQs: Treatment satisfaction had a mean score of 32.2 ± 3.7. The perceived frequency of hypo and hyperglycemic episodes were 2.42 ± 1.42 and 2.88 ± 1.45. Patients with microvascular complications reported a greater negative impact of diabetes on quality of life and less treatment satisfaction

CONCLUSIONS

Patients with diabetes treated with CSII + rt-CGM reported a negative impact on their quality of life but a high level of treatment satisfaction.
