Objectives: We aimed to investigate the requisition indicators applied in "Kinesitherapie Respiratoire" among infants and toddlers with the viral respiratory disease within the duty system.

Methods: The research period lasted from December 2017 to December 2018 in the Upper Rhine region, France. The sample comprised of 127 persons (79 boys; 48 girls); mean age: 20.1 months (the youngest person: 3.13 months; the eldest person: 50.86 months). The patient Record Sheet within the duty system formed the basis for the study.

Results: 79 boys (62.2%) and 48 girls (37.8%) of the 127 persons participated in the research. The participants’ age group prevalence was as follows: 6 persons belonged to the 0-6 months age group; 7 persons belonged to the 7-12 months age group, 43 persons belonged to the 13-18 months age group, 42 persons belonged to the 19-24 months age group; 20 persons belonged to the 25-30 months age group; 5 persons belonged to the 31-36 months age group;4 persons belonged to the 36 months above age group. The most referral health professionals and institutions included: pediatricians in 41 cases (32.3%); general practitioners in 39 cases (30.7%); hospitals in 26 cases (20.5%); general practitioners on duty in 21 cases (16.5%). The indication for treatment involved bronchiolitis in 114 persons (89.8%); acute bronchiolitis in 13 persons (10.2%).

Conclusions: A higher number of boys among the infants and toddlers were affected with bronchiolitis than girls in the winter period. The most affected age groups were the infants between 13-18 months and 19-24 months. The largest number of patients referred to treatment came with pediatric and GP referrals. The most common referral diagnosis was bronchiolitis. Knowledge of the results is essential for planning long-term treatments.
