ABSTRACT WITHDRAWN

OBJECTIVES:

Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is chronic diseases leading to progressive disability. The Damage is progressive and irreversible with increased risk of spinal fracture later on. Peripheral joint involvement and extra-articular manifestations such as uveitis, inflammatory bowel disease and psoriasis may also occur. This leads to a significant impact on health care resources. Symptoms of ( AS) usually starting to appear between the age from 15 to 35 years, this age ranged population represent about 10 to13% of the whole Egyptian population which lead to increasing economic burden pressure on emerging market like Egypt. The objective of the study is to determine impact of Golimumab for reducing economic burden of Ankylosing spondylitis compared to secukinumab ,Adalimumab, Etanercept, Infliximab.

METHODS:

Markov model was developed the structure of this model reflects the natural history of AS. The model conforms to real practice of management of AS in Egypt and was validated by experts. Two years’ time horizon was selected to reflect the consequences of a decision. The transition probabilities were calculated based upon the ASAS 20 data from a recent review. Sensitivity analyses was conducted for testing Robustness of our results.

RESULTS:

During time horizon total cumulative QALY gained for Golimumab was

(1.4 34.4)QALY vs (1,331.8) QALY for Adalimumab, (1,323.9) QALY FOR Etanercept, 1,335 QALY for Infliximab and 1,326.0 QALY for secukinumab.

CONCLUSIONS:

Using Golimumab as priority option for treating Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) might reduce economic burden due to it is cost saving results talking into considerations other criteria for reimbursement.
