Problem Statement: The poor health system on mental health has caused the public healthcare facilities of their clients to the faith-based hospitals who offer the clients the services that they need even though the cost incurred is catastrophic; the clients are willing to pay and be healed. Although little is known about the size of the access gaps and the availability of mental health services at the district level in Ghana, access to high-quality mental health services is still poor in that country. Description: The study sought to assist Ghana in achieving its goal of offering healthcare services to everyone in need in the area of mental health, by assessing the human resource and service delivery systems with the delivery of services of mental healthcare services in primary healthcare facilities.

A Microsoft Excel spreadsheet and IBM SPSS statistics version 20 were used to enter and evaluate the data.

The gaps with the registered mental health workers in providing mental healthcare in facilities were South- Suntreso Hospital (66.6%), and Maternity & Children’s Hospital (66.6%). In addition, the chi-square performed showed a significant relationship between gender and level of preparedness (p-value=0.001*). based on that, the Ghana Health Service will ensure that mental healthcare at the primary healthcare level will be very effective with a balanced ratio of the healthcare workers and the number of patients they attend to at the facilities. A creative mental health leadership will play an important role in providing mental health services.

Lessons Learned:

The healthcare providers are qualified to offer their patients mental treatment as a result of their training. The chi square demonstrated statistical significance for healthcare employees' sociodemographic characteristics (gender, age, and position), and preparedness of healthcare workers. All that they need is a good policy implementer.
