OBJECTIVES: The field of HTA is rapidly developing, with novel methods and tools being published disparately across various platforms and organizations internationally. This creates a scattered landscape of methods and tools that are hard for HTA professionals to locate, which is why the SUSTAIN-HTA project has created the SUSTAIN-OBS. This observatory acts as a continuously updating centralized tool for users to easily find the HTA methods, tools and guides they need.
METHODS: To compile the HTA methods and tools from international organizations, the SUSTAIN-OBS team have interviewed experts at various organizations to identify where these methods and tools sit in order to target the extraction process. The methods and tools have now been identified and are under review for inclusion before verifying the descriptions and classifications of them with the experts that were interviewed.
RESULTS: The international organizations that have been interviewed for methods and tools to include in the observatory are Cochrane, EMA, ISPOR, and HTAi. All of these organizations have generated several novel methods and tools in past years which will be housed within the observatory. This year, 58 national HTA methods guides from European countries and five EU methods guides were added to the observatory, with options to review in list form or via a interactive map feature. These guides were added to the existing 66 methods and tools from EU-funded projects that were identified in the first phase of this project.
CONCLUSIONS: The SUSTAIN-OBS thus acts as a centralized and streamlined source of methods, tools and guides that have been developed in the EU, and will see the addition of further methods and tools from international organizations this year. In it’s final form the SUSTAIN-OBS will serve as a continuously updated and easy to use tool for HTA professionals to find the methods, tools, and guides that they need.
