MULTI-COUNTRY SURGEONS-REPORTED REAL WORLD EXPERIENCE WITH A PREMIUM IOL

OBJECTIVES: This study evaluated surgeon-reported real-world experience, visual performance, and patient experience metrics associated with the implantation of the premium Supraphob Infocus Extended Depth of Focus (EDOF) intra ocular lenses (IOL) across the India, Philippines, and Colombia. EDOF lenses are designed to provide an extended range of vision, particularly for distance and intermediate activities while reducing spectacle dependence
METHODS: Data encompassing surgical experience, visual acuity performance, dysphotopsia incidence, spectacle independence, posterior capsular opacification (PCO) rates, and perceived visual comfort were collected and analysed from 39 surgeons representing 920 implanted eyes across India, Philippines, and Colombia over a two-month period (August-September 2025)
RESULTS: According to the surgeons, Supraphob lenses demonstrated excellent visual performance and patient satisfaction. Most surgeons (58%) had implanted 11-50 lenses, with 8% reporting experience of over 50 implantations, indicating growing clinical confidence. At one month postoperatively, an estimated 98.5% of patients achieved distance visual acuity of 6/9 or better, with 77% of surgeons reporting excellent intermediate visual performance. Spectacle independence for distance vision was attained in approximately 98% of patients. More than 80% of surgeons additionally reported improved contrast sensitivity and brighter vision under varying lighting conditions. Nearly 98% of patients reported clear and comfortable vision across daily activities, with only 23% reporting minimal visual disturbances. Long-term surgeon-reported observations indicated sustained optical quality as Dysphotopsia was absent in 98% of cases treated and 70% of surgeons experienced never to very rare PCO incidence in their patients, with Nd:YAG capsulotomy rates remaining below 10% in the majority of the treated cases. Neuroadaptation was rated excellent or very good by 84% of surgeons
CONCLUSIONS: This survey demonstrates that Infocus IOL delivers consistent real-world visual performance and patient satisfaction across diverse settings, characterized by excellent visual acuity, minimal dysphotopsia, and sustained postoperative clarity, supporting its role as a reliable option for modern cataract surgery
