ISPOR Publishes Reports from Estonia, Romania, Greece, and the Russian Federation

Lawrenceville, NJ, USA—December 18, 2018—Value in Health Regional Issues, the regionally focused online journal of ISPOR—the professional society for health economics and outcomes research, announced today the publication of a series of 4 articles describing current drug policy in Estonia, Romania, Greece, and the Russian Federation. The themed section, “Drug Policies in Central and Eastern Europe,” was published in Value in Health Regional Issues.

These articles are part of an ongoing effort to review drug policies in Central and Eastern European countries, a project initiated and conducted within the ISPOR Central and Eastern European Publication Network working group. Experts from participating countries have been involved in the project and have provided detailed information and data on pharmaceutical pricing and reimbursement. The rationale is to assess and share information from the region regarding drug policies and improve information and knowledge on pharmaceutical systems in the respective countries. Each of the 4 articles in the themed section provides an overview of recent drug policy, including country-specific discussions of pricing, access, and reimbursement:
  1. Drug Policy in Estonia, by Kadri Mägi, Marika Lepaste, and Monika Szkultecka-Dębek
  2. Drug Policy in Romania, by Ciprian-Paul Radu, Bogdan Cristian Pana, and Florentina Ligia Furtunescu
  3. Drug Policy in Greece, by John Yfantopoulosand Athanasios Chantzaras
  4. Drug Policy in the Russian Federation, by Malwina Holownia-Voloskova, Pavel Vorobiev, Maxim Grinin, Maria Davydovskaya, Tatiana Ermolaeva, and Konstantin Kokushkin
The aim of the Central and Eastern European Publication Network working group is to promote and facilitate greater understanding of the pricing and reimbursement system through the Central and Eastern European countries and its use in healthcare decisions. Results are targeted to both healthcare professionals and decision makers. The intention is to promote informed healthcare decisions as well as to provide substantial data to healthcare outcomes researchers and share a unique perspective for better understanding of healthcare reimbursement and pricing in the Central and Eastern European region.
