Website Focuses on How the Field of HEOR Can Inform a “Whole Health Perspective” for Healthcare

Lawrenceville, NJ, USA—September 23, 2025—ISPOR—The Professional Society for Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) announced that it has launched new website content on whole health, a topic of increasing importance as health systems across the globe grapple with providing the best possible healthcare to patients within constrained budgets.

ISPOR's Strategic Plan 2030 introduced the Society's new vision for a world where healthcare is accessible, effective, efficient, and affordable for all. An integral element of this strategy is viewing health through a more holistic lens that looks at all the key factors that impact an individual's health—whole health. Whole health expands the definition of value by recognizing the physical, behavioral, socioeconomic, environmental, and spiritual dimensions of health. A whole health approach prioritizes enhancing health outcomes that matter to individuals while promoting well-being for all.

ISPOR’s preeminent journal, Value in Health, recently published a series of articles on whole health in its May 2025 issue. Each of these articles are featured on the new whole health webpage with topics including, how the field of HEOR can contribute to whole health, expanding the definition of value to include whole health, a global perspective of the topic, and how public health supports whole health.

“ISPOR views whole health as a key topic to advance our vision,” stated ISPOR’s CEO Rob Abbott. “We recognize that the field of HEOR can make a significant impact in informing and moving whole health forward. As the leading professional society in the field of HEOR, we are committed to supporting methods, guidance, and research that include the concept of whole health.”
