Discover how to responsibly apply generative AI tools to real-world HEOR research challenges.
The rapid advancement of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) is creating new opportunities to transform how HEOR research is conducted. This course provides a foundational introduction to generative AI, with a focus on large language models (LLMs) and their practical application across HEOR research workflows. Participants will gain a clear understanding of how to access and use these tools responsibly and effectively, beyond basic chatbot interactions, to support rigorous scientific inquiry.
Technical Topics Include:
- Overview of generative AI and large language models relevant to HEOR
- Accessing and deploying LLMs using appropriate platforms and tools
- Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and agent-based workflows
- Privacy, security, and ethical considerations when using GenAI in HEOR
- Applications of GenAI in systematic literature reviews and economic evaluation
This Course Includes Tools and Concepts That Can Be Immediately Applied, Including:
- Practical guidance on designing effective prompts for research use cases
- Examples of GenAI-supported workflows for HEOR analyses
- Hands-on exercises using Python and relevant AI frameworks
- Best practices for integrating GenAI into existing HEOR research processes
Participants will leave with the knowledge and confidence to begin applying generative AI techniques within specific HEOR contexts and to understand how these approaches can enhance the efficiency, quality, and scalability of HEOR research.
