Over the past two decades, considerable progress has been made toward putting the patient at the center of medical product development, approval, and access. We now have countless examples illustrating the value of incorporating patient input throughout medicine development and access processes—but not every effort has the intended impact. In this Educational Symposium, we’ll reflect on some common, well-meaning activities meant to incorporate the patient perspective into decision-making that may not have fully connected or achieved the desired goal and what we can learn from them. Through insights from industry, HTA, and patient perspectives, this session will highlight common missteps, practical lessons, and strategies to ensure patient involvement remains authentic, impactful, and sustainable.
