OBJECTIVES: Since 2000, studies from Türkiye have been submitted to the events held every year by ISPOR, where leading studies in the field of health economics and outcomes research are published worldwide and where it constitutes a community of professionals. The aim of the study is to analyze the trend of diseases, subjects, and subject subcategories of Türkiye-based studies presented at ISPOR conferences.
METHODS: Utilizing the ISPOR online database, we accessed poster presentations originating from Türkiye. The analysis encompassed posters presented between 2000 and 2023. These posters were collated into Microsoft Excel for descriptive analysis, categorizing them by years, diseases, subjects, and subject subcategories.
RESULTS: A total of 538 studies originating from Türkiye were included in the analysis. 11.34% (61) of these studies were in 2015. However, a downward trend in Türkiye-based studies presented after 2015. In particular, there was a sharp decrease of 4.09% in the number of studies in 2021 (from 27 to 5) and a significant increase of 6.88% in the number of studies in 2022 (from 5 to 42). Among these studies, 16.92% (100) included multiple diseases, while 12.52% (74) focused on cardiovascular diseases. The analysis revealed that 319 studies were dedicated to economic evaluations, with 136 benefit analysis and 122 cost-comparison studies.
CONCLUSIONS: The majority of posters originating from Türkiye center on studies involving multiple diseases and cardiovascular disease. Economic evaluation is observed as the main analytical method utilized in these studies.
