Paul Scuffham is a Professor of Health Economics at Griffith University, Gold Coast, Australia. He graduated with a PhD in economics from Otago in 1999, spent 4+ years at the University of York (UK) and returned to Australia in 2004 to further the development of health economics research. His research interests are focussed on modelling the costs and benefits of health care interventions, measurement and valuation of health outcomes, priority setting methods and methods for formally incorporating the public preferences in health policy decision-making. His research places an emphasis on the translation of research into health policy. He has published over 500 articles in academic journals, numerous reports to the Australian government, was an Associate Editor of Value in Health (2007-2013), and currently serves on five editorial boards and is Associate Editor of three other journals. He was the Director of the former Menzies Health Institute Queensland and former Director of the Centre for Applied Health Economics at Griffith University that he founded in 2008. He was the founding President of the Australian Chapter of ISPOR, a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Science, elected Board member and Chair of their Policy Advisory Committee.
