Description:

The FDA states that ensuring people from diverse backgrounds join clinical trials is a key to advancing health equity, however, this diversity is not often achieved. Despite the FDA guidance put forth in 2020 to enhance diversity in clinical trials, many populations remain underrepresented, particularly, people from racial and ethnic minority groups, women, and the elderly. This underrepresentation limits the information on a therapy’s
response, safety, and efficacy. Our panel of real-world evidence experts will discuss the current limitations in clinical trial population inclusion and explain how real-world evidence can help increase the greater goal of representation in clinical trials.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the current state of the clinical trial recruitment and design.
  • Explore the challenges with diversity, equity, and inclusion in clinical trials and the implications of the current limitations.
  • Determine how real-world data and real-world evidence can help improve access to clinical trials.
