We have carefully reviewed the recent article by Gregory et al, the “Early budget impact analysis of artificial intelligence to support the review of radiographic examinations for suspected fractures in National Health Service emergency departments,” published in Value in Health. The study offers a compelling preliminary analysis of the potential cost savings associated with integrating artificial intelligence (AI) technology into diagnostic workflows within the National Health Service (NHS) emergency departments (EDs). We commend the authors for their efforts in quantifying the economic impact of AI in real clinical settings. Nevertheless, we would like to offer several critical observations and propose directions for future research to enhance the economic viability of AI in healthcare applications.
