We read with great interest the recent article on quality-adjusted life expectancy (QALE) norms in the United Kingdom by McNamara et al.
The use of QALE as a measure of health is a novel and innovative approach, and the authors’ efforts to establish QALE norms for the English population are highly commendable. The results of the study are useful not only for healthcare professionals and policy makers but also for the general public, given that they provide a clear picture of the health status of the population and can inform decision making related to healthcare and health policy. Overall, we believe that this article is a valuable contribution to the field of health economics.
