ISPOR Student Network Committee

The ISPOR Student Network consists of 10 committees that liaise with the ISPOR Staff, Student Network Advisor, Student Network Chair, and the Faculty Advisor Council. Each committee has a key role in aiding ISPOR to accomplish its goal of being the leading organization to advance health economics globally. If you are the chapter president of your University, or a member of the Executive Committee, you are eligible to participate in one of the Committees. Awards & Grants Committee
  • Responsibilities: Work with ISPOR Staff and Student Network Chair to review and approve Chapter Activity Grant submissions based on established criteria. Once the Activity Grant has approval, the Committee will follow up with chapters who received a grant about posting to social media and submitting an article summarizing the event to the Newsletter Committee. Provide a review of Student Research Showcase submissions and develop a scoring system. Collaborate with ISPOR Staff to devise criteria for Chapter President Distinguished Service Awards through use of Survey Monkey to collect and score submissions.

Chapter Development Committee
  • Responsibilities: Works collaboratively with ISPOR staff to identify, contact, and convert prospective ISPOR Student Chapters. The Committee will also help to facilitate the chapter mentorship program by communicating to newly formed chapters about what chapters may be a good resource for them based on geographic location or the type of academic programs offered. Reinstating recently inactive chapters will be a responsibility as well through the identification of faculty within the University who can facilitate reformation.

Communication Committee
  • Responsibilities: To disseminate timely news in collaboration with other committees, handle communication for upcoming Chapter President Teleconferences including collection of slides and distribution of meeting notices. The Committee will also play a role in continuing to increase the online and social network presence of the ISPOR Student Network.

Education Committee
  • Responsibilities: To coordinate monthly educational teleconferences to provide all ISPOR student members across the globe with the opportunity to learn from some of the most established researchers in our area of research. The Committee will work to identify speakers and topics based on input from the results of the Student Member Interest Survey, recommendations from prior committee members, and through consulting with the Faculty Advisor Council (FAC). Upon confirming speakers and topics, the committee will consult with ISPOR staff on confirming dates to avoid conflicts. Committee will then work to create a meeting invitation that will be distributed to Chapter Presidents and all student members.

International Meeting Planning Committee
  • Responsibilities: To collaborate with ISPOR Staff to plan student events during ISPOR European and Regional conferences and increase connections in the European, Asia Pacific, and Latin American regions.

Membership Outreach Committee:
  • Responsibilities: To maintain and grow ISPOR student membership through periodic outreach to new chapter presidents by offering insights and suggestions on how to grow their student chapter membership. Membership Outreach Committee will collaborate with the Communication Committee to make students aware of the Student Member Recruitment Campaigns that occur semi-annually. The Committee will also create flyers that tailor the benefits of membership based on the student’s program of study (i.e. flyer highlighting all ISPOR benefits specific to PharmD or PhD students).

Newsletter Committee
  • Responsibilities: To report on chapter activities and to provide information about issues that may be of interest to the student members of ISPOR. Articles for the Newsletter may also include helpful tips and insights about networking, research methods, or other HEOR related content. The Newsletter Committee creates a crossword puzzle for each issue designed for students to compete to win a prize. Committee members will be responsible to liaise with other committees to collect latest news.

North America Meeting Planning Committee
  • Responsibilities: To plan student events during ISPOR conferences to enhance students’ educational experience and facilitate networking. Identify ways to improve existing offering of events and to implement new ones in coordination with ISPOR staff.

Social Media Committee
  • Responsibilities: To facilitate strategies and tactics that will grow ISPOR student engagement on the various social media platforms that ISPOR operates including Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter. The Social Media Committee will also be responsible for soliciting postings from student chapters for any recent events held. This role may include evaluating and providing feedback on new social media platforms as well as how to better utilize existing channels.

Survey & Evaluation Committee
  • Responsibilities: Works with the ISPOR Staff Liaison to design, test, implement, and evaluate annual surveys for distribution to student members and chapter presidents. The Committee will utilize the data collected to help aid ISPOR Staff in developing improvements or enhancements of existing ISPOR Student Network activities. The Survey Committee will handle the Student Member Interest Survey, Internship & Summer Employment Survey, and work on additional studies / ad hoc projects (introduce a Member Testimonial Survey) under the direction of the Staff Liaison.
