A Look To the Future for Value in Health

Since its inception in 1998, ISPOR's official peer-reviewed journal, Value in Health, has provided a forum for researchers, health care decision makers, and policy makers to translate pharmacoeconomics and outcomes research into health care decisions. The journal has grown from 30 submissions a year in 1998 to over 489 in 2012. We asked Value in Health's Co-Editors-in-Chief, Dr. Michael Drummond, DPhil, and Dr. C. Daniel Mullins, PhD to tell us how the journal has evolved since they took over as Co-Editors-in-Chief and also their plans for the future of the journal. Their video interviews are included below.

Additionally, Value in Health endorses Consolidated Health Economic Evaluation Reporting Standards (CHEERS). In the video included below, lead author, Don Husereau, MSc, explains how the CHEERS report will impact patients.

NEW ISPOR Good Practices for Outcomes Research
Value in Health just published the fifth ISPOR Good Practices for Outcomes Research Task Force Report of 2013.  This report, Performance-Based Risk-Sharing Arrangements (PBRSAs)—Good Practices for Design, Implementation, and Evaluation, provides practical recommendations for the development and application of state-of-the-art methods to be used when considering, using, or reviewing PBRSAs.

ISPOR Education

The ISPOR Distance Learning Program (iDLP) is designed to provide knowledge and skills on pharmacoeconomic and outcomes research topics (clinical, economic, patient-reported outcomes) through convenient individual training modules.

ISPOR is proud to announce the publication of three NEW modules:

 
A Conceptual Introduction to Item Response Theory (IRT)
This module introduces item response theory (IRT) to researchers wishing to gain a general understanding.
Preparing for Multinational Studies: Translation and Cultural Adaptation of PRO Measures
This module will cover: 1) types of cross-cultural equivalence in the context of data poolability; 2) translation methodologies which adhere to industry standards; 3) use of qualitative research methods such as cognitive interviewing techniques to assess linguistic validity and cross-cultural equivalence of translated measures.
An Introduction to Choice-Based Conjoint Analysis (Discrete Choice Experiments)
The module describes conjoint analysis as a method, its theoretical basis, why it is useful and how it has been used.
