ISPOR Mexico Regional Chapter– Award for Best Research in Pharmacoeconomics

ISPOR Mexico's Reginal Chapter’s First Award for Best Research in Pharmacoeconomics was presented to Dr. Luis David Velázquez for his study, “Cost Analysis of the Principal Fatal Diseases in Intensive Care in Mexico (Multicenter Study)”.  This award promotes the use of new mechanisms to efficiently use health system resources to improve health care and its impact on the quality of life of patients in Mexico.  For more details, please see: ISPOR Mexico Regional Chapter »

ISPOR-SMDM Modeling Good Research Practices Task Force

The ISPOR-SMDM Modeling Good Research Practices (GRP) Task Force, a joint initiative with ISPOR and the Society for Medical Decision-Making (SMDM), was created to ensure that good research practices on modeling techniques remain useful for all current modeling techniques as well as to foster the use of model-based results to inform health care decisions. This Modeling GRP Task Force has six Working Groups. Each Working Group is developing a paper to be a part of the Task Force Report as follows:

Conceptual Modeling and Data Source and Preparation Good Research Practices –Part II

State-Transition Modeling Good Research Practices – Part III

Discrete Event Simulation Modeling Good Research Practices – Part IV

Dynamic Transmission Modeling Good Research Practices – Part V

Model Parameter Estimation and Uncertainty Good Research Practices – Part VI

Model Transparency and Validation Good Research Practices – Part VII

The recommendations and preferred practices from each Working Group paper will be summarized in the paper, Modeling Good Research Practices: Overview, Issues, and Preferred Practices – Part I

ISPOR Prospective Observational Clinical Studies Good Research Practices Task Force

Well-designed observational research has an important and valuable role in generating data about comparative effectiveness in the context of real clinical practice settings. Ethical Considerations for Risk Benefit Management Working Group

The ISPOR Risk Benefit Management (RBM) SIG has formed the Working Group Ethical Considerations for RBM in Biotechnology.  This Working Group will describe ethical concerns associated with biotechnology (such as stem-cell research) products that can have very high cost effectiveness ratios, potential for serious adverse effects, and relatively small numbers of patients.
