Welcome to the January 2014 edition of the ISPOR eBulletin. This issue contains information about ISPOR's latest educational developments, which include a webinar on Discrete Event Simulation (DES) and links to the latest ISPOR Educational Videos. ISPOR relies on the expertise of its members and so this issue also includes a list of ISPOR Special Interest Groups that are looking for new proposals; and instructions on how you can help and contribute to ISPOR's listing of global Pharmacoeconomic (PE) Guidelines and Health Care Systems Road Maps.

Modeling Using Discrete Event Simulation

Dr. Jonathan Karnon, PhD and Dr. James Stahl, MDCM, MPH, authors of the recent ISPOR Good Practices Report for Discrete Event Simulation (DES) will discuss guidelines on the application of DES in a health care setting, covering the range of issues to which DES can be applied in the stages of the modeling process.

ISPOR Special Interest Groups (SIGs) are initiated by ISPOR members to advance health outcomes research and the use of this research in health care decisions. They develop valuable tools and manuscripts for ISPOR members, the outcomes research community, decision makers, and the public. Special Interest Group membership is open to all ISPOR members.

The following ISPOR Special Interest Groups (SIGs) are currently accepting proposals for new working group projects:

The ISPOR Global Health Care Systems Road Map provides an overview of country-specific health care delivery systems focusing on reimbursement and pricing approval processes for pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and diagnostics, which includes validated decision models that define decision makers and the decision-making processes for coverage, reimbursement, and pricing.
