Annual training: “Current situation and challenges in overcoming COVID-19 in Mongolia ”

This training was organized for health professionals, decision-makers, academic faculty, and medical students. The training was organized virtually via Google Meets on 25th December 2020.
President-elect Dr. Gereltuya Dorj (MPharm, PhD) opened the seminar by sharing the main objectives of the ISPOR Mongolia Chapter, followed by the introduction of the presenters:
- Associate Professor Ganbat Byambaa (PhD, MPH, MD) President ISPOR Mongolia Chapter, World Health Organization.
- Professor Gerelmaa Zagd (MD, PhD), Honorary Doctor and Consultant Physician of Mongolia, Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences, School of Medicine.
- Associate Professor Gantuya Dorj (PhD, MPH, MD), Head of Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, School of Public Health, Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences.
- Associate Professor Gantugs Yundendorj (MSc, PhD), School of Public Health, Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences.
- Dr. Mandakhnaran Ourevkhuu (MPharm, PhD), Head of Department of Pharmacy Technicians, School of Pharmacy, Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences.
- Ms. Enkhzaya Bayaraa, Head of Product Development and Research Centre, Monos group.
The event had more than 40 participants from Mongolia, Germany, and Australia. Representatives from public and private organizations, including the Ministry of Health, Mongolia, State Health Insurance, The General Agency for Specialized Inspection, Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences, School of Pharmacy, School of Medicine, School of Biomedicine, School of Public Health, Mongolian University of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Mongolian University of Finance, and representatives from pharmacy departments of Shastin State Third Central Hospital of Mongolia, State First Central Hospital of Mongolia, State Second Central Hospital of Mongolia, Green Hospital of Mongolia, Mongolia-Japan University Teaching Hospital of Mongolia among others.
The annual training focused on issues associated with overcoming COVID-19 in Mongolia and information about clinical practices and costs related to pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical treatments for this viral pandemic in Mongolia and in the world. Additionally, speakers talked about future aspects and consequences of COVID-19 and the need for a better management of a plan for emergency during these situations.
Antimicrobial Resistance Training Held in Mongolia Held

ISPOR Mongolia Chapter organized a 1-day training, “Appropriate Use of Medicines, Control, and Prevention of Antimicrobial Resistance,” for health professionals, decision-makers, and academic faculty in the health sector of Mongolia. The training was organized on 21 June 2019 and at the conference hall, Shastin State Third Central Hospital of Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar City, Mongolia. More than 30 members participated, including representatives from public and private organizations, the Ministry of Health, Mongolia, State Health Insurance, General Agency for Specialized Inspection, Mongolian National University, and many more. Members of the training identified challenges in current health practice, specifically in relation to effectiveness and safety of locally produced antibiotics, and emphasized the need for further training and evidence in the field of cost-effectiveness of locally produced and imported medicines, cost-utilization of medicines, antibiotic consumption, antimicrobial resistance, health system research, and international best practices around the world.
Furthermore, ISPOR Mongolia Chapter informed about results of antimicrobial consumption surveys and distributed information among relevant health professionals. The training was supported by the Shastin State Third Central Hospital of Mongolia, Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences, Mongolian University of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Mongolian Association of Pharmacists and Mongolian Association of Hospital Pharmacists.
Training on Pharmacoeconomics Held in Mongolia

ISPOR Chapter Mongolia organized a one-day training, “A Training on Pharmacoeconomic Studies and Health System Outcomes Research for Academic Faculty Members, Professionals in the Health Sector of Mongolia,” for health professionals, decision makers, and academic faculty in the health sector of Mongolia. The training was organized on 18 September 2018 and was held at the Springs Hotel, 2A Olympic Street, Sukhbaatar District, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The training invited guest speakers from various institutions, including Professor Ganbat Byambaa, PhD, MPH, MD, president,ISPOR Mongolia Chapter, Health Department of Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, Professor Altaisakhan Khasag, MD, MPH, PhD, ISPOR Mongolia Chapter, School of Medicine, Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences, Professor Tsetsegmaa Sanjjav, PhD, ISPOR Mongolia Chapter Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences, Gantuya Dorj, PhD, MPH, MD, ISPOR Mongolia Chapter, Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences.

retail pharmacies (private), Achtan eji
hospital (private) were in attendance. In addition, non-health
professionals including directors of finance departments of hospitals,
private drug wholesaling companies and retail pharmacies attended the
training.
Members
of the training exchanged ideas and experiences and emphasized the need
for further training and information sharing in the field of
pharmacoeconomics, health system research and international best
practices around the world. As most participants agreed, training and
educational activities regarding research methodologies and
evidence-based data collection were on-demand.

Activities in the Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week

The ISPOR Mongolia Chapter also held workshops and discussion meetings with various stakeholders, conducted online interactive lessons for clinicians and community during the Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week, 11-14 November, 2016.
