OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the cost-effectiveness of real-time Continuous Glucose Monitoring (rt-CGM) compared to Self Monitoring Blood Glucose (SMBG) alone in Type 1 Diabetes (T1DM) patients using Multiple Daily Injections (MDI) from the Spanish payer perspective. Sensitivity analysis was included for factory-calibrated rt-CGM. METHODS: The IQVIA CORE Diabetes Model (CDM) (v. 9.0) was used to assess the long-term (50-year) cost-effectiveness of rt-CGM compared to SMBG alone. Treatment effects and base-line patient characteristics are based on the DIAMOND Study (RW Beck et al, JAMA, 2017). Risk for diabetes complications and costs were sourced from other published sources. The accuracy and clinical effectiveness of rt-CGM is equivalent to that observed in the rt-CGM system used in the DIAMOND trial.
