Chris is the founder of Umio, the creator of Health Ecosystem Value Design® (HEVD) and the author of the book of the same name. Umio emerged from the two decades Chris spent as an innovation and strategy consultant to companies and governments of all kinds and sizes throughout the EU and US. After a serious illness in 2006, he became increasingly bored with innovating paint, beer and razor blades, and decided instead to focus all his energy on the challenges of sustainable value-creation in complex health and care systems. Once a visiting fellow at Cranfield School of Management where he earned half a phD, Chris became a Senior Fellow at the Center for Healthier Children, Families and Communities at UCLA in Spring 2019. Here, whilst continuing to lead Umio, he is actively applying his models and thinking to help address US community and national health system challenges.
