Description

Collecting real-world data and generating real-world evidence from it are becoming more important for making better decisions in healthcare. Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries are often late adopters of the novel health technologies, therefore, their HTA systems could benefit from transferring data and evidence including RWD, RWE, and methods from other countries, mainly from Western Europe. However, in practice this rarely happens. The aim of this webinar is to discuss the questions: What are the main barriers which prevent transferring data and methods in CEE, originally generated in Western Europe? What are the proposed solutions to overcome these barriers and opportunities? Oresta Piniazhko will moderate the webinar and will also share her experience in applying transferability for methodological guidelines development in Ukraine from the perspective of HTA body to optimize the procedures of assessment and act in time. Dr. Boryana Ivanova will speak about the process of collecting RWD and generating RWE from it in Bulgaria, and present cases on using RWE for HTA recommendations and decision-making in Bulgaria. Bertalan Nemeth will present the key findings from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 funded HTx research project on next generation HTA, during which these questions were investigated.

Learning Objectives

  • Gain a better understanding of potential benefits of transferability in methods and data and considerations for applicability and transferability with the experiences and insights from the CEE countries as example.
  • Identify and explore ways to overcome barriers preventing optimal transferability of methods and data.
