Description:
ISPOR Travel Grants were established to support eligible ISPOR members in attending the Society's conferences, including the ISPOR Annual, ISPOR Europe, ISPOR Asia Pacific, and ISPOR Latin America conferences.
Eligibility:
- The candidate for the grant must be an active, current ISPOR member and must have a primary residence in a country classified by the World Bank as Low/Lower-Middle/Upper-Middle economy
- The candidate for an ISPOR conference (held in North America) or ISPOR Europe conference must reside in a country/region in Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Latin America, or Oceania
- The candidate for an ISPOR Asia Pacific conference must reside in a country/region in Asia or Oceania
- The candidate for an ISPOR Latin America Conference must reside in a country/region in Latin America
- The candidate must be employed by an academic, government, or nonprofit organization
- The candidate must not be a student [Note: Students may apply for the ISPOR Student Travel Grant]
- The candidate must not have received an ISPOR Conference Travel Grant during the past 5 years
Application:
The candidate must submit a:
- Proposal (up to 250 words) showing how they will contribute to the development of health economics and outcomes research or the use of outcomes research in healthcare decisions in their own country/region based on this ISPOR Conference Travel Grant experience. Proposal should include relevant aspects of an applicant’s professional background
- Brief description (up to 100 words) demonstrating the need for financial support to attend an ISPOR conference that is not available by any other means
- Applications are scored and ranked according to a standardized scoring framework that includes contributions to ISPOR and HEOR
Nature of the Grant:
The recipient of the ISPOR Conference Travel Grant receives the following to attend an ISPOR conference:
- A complimentary registration to the ISPOR conference
- A complimentary ISPOR Short Course registration (up to 4 courses per conference)
- Up to US $1,800 for airfare (coach), transportation, and lodging expenses
Note: Funds to attend the ISPOR conferences are reimbursed after the conference, as well as each recipient being responsible for booking their own hotel and flights. ISPOR does not release funds nor book flights or accommodations prior to any conference for any recipient.
Selection Timeline:
- ISPOR Conference Travel Grant Application submission deadline is 3 months prior to an ISPOR conference
- ISPOR Conference Travel Grant grantees are determined 2 months prior to an ISPOR conference
Promotion:
- ISPOR Conference Travel Grant is promoted through ISPOR consortia/networks/regional chapters, ISPOR regional newsletters, the ISPOR website, and
- ISPOR Travel Grant grantees are announced on webpages of ISPOR consortia/networks/regional chapters
Selection Committee:
- The ISPOR Conference Travel Grant Committee consists of 5 members recommended by the Executive Committee of the ISPOR Asia Consortium, ISPOR Latin America Consortium, ISPOR Central and Eastern European Consortium, ISPOR Africa Network, and ISPOR Arabic Network. Each consortium/network recommends 1 committee member who is the member of the consortium/network. Committee members must be full ISPOR members and reside in the respective region
- The Committee is responsible for the selection of up to 40 grantees a year distributed among the ISPOR conferences, including ISPOR, ISPOR Europe, ISPOR Asia Pacific, and ISPOR Latin America. The Committee members may consult their consortium/network leadership in the selection of candidates from their region
