ISPOR Slovenia Chapter Activities at the Vienna Congress.
ISPOR 19th Annual European Congress in Vienna, Austria brought together under 5000 attendees from 89 countries of the world; congress featured nearly 2,500 presentations and included decision-makers, government officials, leading researchers and experts, academicians, students, pharmacists, public and private payers, HTA bodies, patients, patient advocates and many other stakeholders.
EMEA chapters showed great enthusiasm in organizing eminent meetings presenting interesting and urgent topics for the discussion, attracting numerous audience.
ISPOR Global Networks acknowledge a notable participation of ISPOR Slovenia Chapter Activities at the Vienna Congress: CEE Network Executive and Working Committee meetings, CEE Network Reception, plenary sessions, poster and podium presentations, issue panels, etc.
ISPOR Slovenia and Serbia Chapters conducted a joint meeting discussing many interesting topics for both chapters.
A two-day workshop titled “New Perspectives on Pharmaceutical Economics and Policies” was held on September 29-30, 2016 on the premises of the Slovenian National House of Insurance (Zavod za zdravstveno zavarovanje Slovenije). The workshop was conducted by Dr. Rok Hren and was attended by 13 participants, including Head of the Department for Drugs prim. Dr. Jurij Fürst, and Head of the Department for Medical Devices, Dr. Drago Perkič. “The feedback of participants was highly positive, urging ISPOR Slovenia Chapter to offer workshop to other stakeholders within the Slovenian health care system, e.g., the Ministry of Health and senior management of major hospitals.” – Dr. Rok Hren, President of ISPOR Slovenia Chapter.

The award ceremony took place during the Congress's 2nd Plenary Session, on Tuesday, November 10. The award was presented by the ViHRI (Central & Eastern Europe, Western Asia and Africa) Co-Ed-in-Chief, Dr. Dan Greenberg.
The Value in Health Regional Issues (ViHRI) Excellent Article Award recognizes the best article published in ViHRI from Asia, Latin America and Central & Eastern Europe, Western Asia & Africa (CEEWAA).This new Award promotes quality research, originality, and utility in health care decisions for articles published in ViHRI.
HTA and its role in the health system planning was the focus of this congress, co-organized by the ISPOR Slovenia Chapter and the Croatian Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics. The objective was to: share research and help advance the science of health economics within the Adriatic region, provide opportunities for networking, and get involved in debating controversial and complex issues of health care involving different stakeholders.
