ISPOR 9th ANNUAL EUROPEAN CONGRESS-
28-31
October 2006 Radisson SAS Falconer Hotel & Conference Center, Copenhagen, Denmark
“ASKING CRITICAL QUESTIONS”
The ISPOR
9th Annual European Congress was held on 28-31 October 2006 at the Radisson SAS
Falconer Hotel and Conference Center, Copenhagen, Denmark. This year, over
1,300 attended the Congress. Once again, ISPOR benefited from having multiple
Congress organizers. Ivar Sonbo Kristensen MD, MPH, PhD, Professor Institute
of Health, University of Oslo, Oslo, Norway; and Bengt Jonsson PhD, Professor
of Health Economics, Stockholm School of Economics, Center of Health Economics, Stockholm, Sweden, as Congress Co-chairs organized a yet another top-rate
program for congress attendees.
This year’s
Congress theme: Asking Critical Questions. Congress attendees were asked to
consider the following: meeting standards for patient reported outcomes - are
they achievable; do economists have anything to contribute to health economics;
what are the total societal costs and benefits of interventions, in the market
for pharmaceuticals; can we trust evidence based medicine; and should society
adopt a threshold value for QALYs.
