Learn To Analyze Comparative Effectiveness Studies
Register Today! Visit: www.hsph.harvard.edu/ccpe/MDA or call: 617-384-8692
- Learn the basics of public health research and statistical methods
Taught in an interactive classroom setting, this program is geared towards introductory to intermediate outcomes research professionals. The program provides participants with an overview of several topics in the newly funded field of health outcomes research, equipping newcomers with knowledge of the language and concepts of both public health research and statistical methods.
- Understand and work with health outcomes studies
Participants will learn to design, implement, and analyze health outcomes studies and critically review and use outcomes research data for clinical decision making, health care planning, and technology development. Providing the skills necessary to synthesize findings from various public health research studies to provide solid evidence for the value of specific treatments is a major goal of the program.
- Improve health outcomes and quality initiatives
The economic stimulus bill approved by Congress, for the first time, provides substantial funding for the new field of comparative effectiveness which juxtaposes the effectiveness of different treatments for the same illness, responding to a growing concern that doctors have little or no solid, research-based, evidence of the value of many treatments. In an increasingly competitive health care market, health outcomes research and evaluation is important for making effective clinical and business decisions, improving patient-reported outcomes including health quality, and decreasing payer costs by discouraging the use of costly, ineffective treatments.
