EuroQol Group Foundation

Established in 1987, The EuroQol Group consists of a network of international multi-disciplinary researchers from Europe, North America, New Zealand, South Africa and Japan. Their collaboration resulted in EQ-5D - a standardised, non-disease-specific instrument for describing and valuing health. EQ-5D is in widespread use in many countries and has been applied in many different settings. EQ-5D is now an integral feature of many clinical trials and is increasingly used in population health surveys. EQ-5D is also being used by eight out of the first ten of the top fifty pharmaceutical companies listed in the annual report of Pharma Business (November/December 1999). Furthermore, EQ-5D is one of a handful of measures recommended for use in cost-effectiveness analyses by the Washington Panel on Cost Effectiveness in Health & Medicine.

The EuroQol Group Foundation is formally registered in the Netherlands. The objective of the Foundation is to promote the scientific interests of the EuroQol Group. The Foundation has a formal Board of Management and a growing Business Management Office in the Netherlands which is a focal point for communication and provides services for distribution, co-ordination and quality control. The EuroQol Business Management maintains a website at www.euroqol.org. For more information, contact the EuroQol Business Manager, dr. Frank de Charro at fdecharro@compuserve.com.
